What Can Credential Financial Strategies Inc. Do For You?
No one really knows what the future will bring, but with the right insurance plan, you and your family can enjoy the peace of mind in knowing that you're prepared to face whatever tomorrow has in store.

We all have specific insurance needs. Whether it's protecting your family, retirement fund or small business, your Credential Financial Strategies Representative can help you determine the insurance policy that is right for you.

Insurance Options

Segregated Funds
Segregated funds are a Canadian insurance product and are only offered to Canadians. Segregated fund contracts are similar to mutual funds in that they are a pooled investment, but offer specific benefits such as estate bypass, (saving you the probate and legal fees) the potential for creditor protection (in the event of bankruptcy or legal action) and death and maturity guarantees on your principal investment. Segregated funds are RRSP and RRIF eligible.

Critical Illness Insurance
A critical illness could have a devastating impact on your life, not only due to medical expenses, but also because of lost income. Critical illness insurance pays out a tax-free benefit, providing you with the financial security to make necessary lifestyle changes.

Final Expenses
Life insurance provides your family with funds for any final expenses such as funeral costs, outstanding bills or taxes due upon your death. Rather than leaving your loved ones with debt, you can leave them with a legacy. Permanent insurance also pays out an immediate benefit no matter how long you have had your policy. There are also insurance products with a nursing home benefit, allowing you to tap into the value of the policy if you move into a care facility and require extra funds.

RRSP/RRIF Insurance

Your retirement savings are likely one of your largest assets - so why not protect them? At your death, your RRSP/RRIF can be transferred to your surviving spouse as a tax –free rollover. However, upon your spouse’s death, the balance of the investment becomes taxable income to the estate, and this can create a large tax bill. RRSP/RRIF insurance can ensure that funds are available to pay the bill, leaving the investment for your beneficiaries.

Estate Planning

You've worked hard to accumulate assets and build an estate. Naturally, you want to pass along as much of your estate as possible to your beneficiaries. There are a number of plans that allow you to accumulate money on a tax-deferred basis to pay necessary costs, such as probate fees, capital gains and taxes on registered assets. Ensure your beneficiaries receive the fruits of your labour.

Income Replacement
Your income is important to you and your family. In the event of your death, income replacement insurance can provide immediate cash and subsequent income for your family. You can rest easy knowing that your family's needs are secure.

Charitable Giving

As credit union members we care about our community and the world in which we live. No doubt, you have favourite charities to which you contribute. Life insurance provides an opportunity to help fund charitable organizations on a much larger scale than your annual donations, with unique tax benefits.

Business Insurance
Ideas, hard work, dedication... all of these contribute to building a successful business. Specialized insurance products can protect your business in any number of situations, such as a buy/sell agreement, corporate buyout, share redemption and key person insurance.

Disability Insurance

According to Statistics Canada, Health Statistics Division, there is a 21 per cent chance that a woman aged 35 years will suffer a moderate to severe disability. This figure increases to 31 percent for a woman aged 55 years. What would happen to your lifestyle if you became disabled and were unable to work? Disability insurance provides a monthly benefit to replace your lost income.

Health & Dental Plans

With the increasing cost of medical care, health and dental plans are an essential part of an employee benefit package. Whether you are a sole proprietor working from home or the owner of a larger business, there is a health plan available to provide the coverage you and/or your employees need.
